The hardest habit to kick. Food, by far has been my hardest addiction to get over. I like how there is a plan laid out, not a diet. Good program.

She will guide you through the 12 Steps of Overeaters Anonymous (A program used by compulsive eaters, bulimics and anorexics),in the privacy of your own home. This is meant to be an introductory course to begin your recovery. It will contain video of Jennifer sharing her experience, strength and hope, printable worksheets, and daily emotional, physical and spiritual guidance to help break the cycle of your addictive behaviors. You can complete the 12 steps at your own pace and on your own schedule.

You’ll be invited to join our CLOSED and PRIVATE Addiction recovery Facebook page, where you’ll meet others recovering from their various addictions. There you will find inspiration and support to help you through your journey to recovery.

As is the case with other addictions, food addiction involves physical craving and an ever-increasing dependence upon and struggle with a substance (food). The manifestations of food addiction vary. Overeating, under-eating or self-starvation, bulimia (including exercise bulimia), and extreme obsession with weight or food are among the symptoms of this addiction.

IS THIS PROGRAM FOR YOU?

Being a food addict is a self-diagnosed disease (“disease” - meaning you are not at-ease with yourself). No one else can diagnose you. Please feel free to answer the questions below to assess if you feel you have a problem with food. If you find yourself answering “Yes” to some of these questions, this program may be exactly what you’ve been looking for:

  • Have you ever wanted to stop eating and found you just couldn't?
  • Do you think about food or your weight constantly?
  • Do you find yourself attempting one diet or food plan after another, with no lasting success?
  • Do you binge and then "get rid of the binge" through vomiting, exercise, laxatives, or other forms of purging?
  • Do you eat differently in private than you do in front of other people?
  • Has a doctor or family member ever approached you with concern about your eating habits or weight?
  • Do you eat large quantities of food at one time (binge)?
  • Is your weight problem due to your "nibbling" all day long?
  • Do you eat to escape from your feelings?
  • Do you eat when you're not hungry?
  • Have you ever discarded food, only to retrieve and eat it later?
  • Do you eat in secret?
  • Do you fast or severely restrict your food intake?
  • Have you ever stolen other people's food?
  • Have you ever hidden food to make sure you have "enough"?
  • Do you feel driven to exercise excessively to control your weight?
  • Do you obsessively calculate the calories you've burned against the calories you've eaten?
  • Do you frequently feel guilty or ashamed about what you've eaten?
  • Are you waiting for your life to begin "when you lose the weight"?
  • Do you feel hopeless about your relationship with food?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then you may be a food addict. You are not alone.

OUTCOME & SOLUTION

Jennifer will address food addiction on every level. The 12 step program she will present first helps food addicts physically refrain from their addiction.

Abstinence is a planned, disciplined way of eating that leads to the addict’s release from food cravings, obsession, and self-abuse. Abstinence is simple and clear, but it is difficult to sustain continuously over the course of a lifetime. The 12 Steps offer support for a way of life that makes daily, uninterrupted abstinence possible.

The program works long-term because it offers a spiritual solution. It will enable you to face and clear away the wreckage of the past and to find and develop a reliance on your own Higher Power. This leads to a change in personality that makes one-day-at-a-time, continuous recovery possible. While the 12 Step program is spiritual, it is not religious.

And after working a successful program, these are The Twelve Promises from the book Alcoholics Anonymous (we just replace the word "Alcohol" with "Food"...you will find that addiction is addiction):

  • We are going to know a new freedom & a new happiness.
  • We will not regret the past, nor wish to shut the door on it.
  • We will comprehend the word Serenity &
  • We will know peace.
  • No matter how far down the scale we’ve gone, we’ll see how our experiences can benefit others.
  • That feeling of uselessness & self-pity will disappear.
  • We will lose interest in selfish things & gain interest in our fellows.
  • Self-seeking will slip away.
  • Our whole attitude & outlook on life will change.
  • Fear of people & economic insecurity will leave us.
  • We will intuitively know how to handle situations which use to baffle us.
  • We will suddenly realize that God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves.
  • Are these extravagant promises? We think not.
  • They’re being fulfilled among us - sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly.
  • They’ll always materialize if we work for them.

Remember: Food Addiction is an equal opportunity destroyer. It doesn’t care who you are, how much money you make, or the type of education you have. Its job is to destroy your life. Jennifer can help.

*Please consult your physician before starting any new food plan*
